Dr. Karen Dixon, P.E. is a Senior Research Engineer and Program Manager for the Roadway Safety Program at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI). Before joining TTI, Dr. Dixon was a professor at Oregon State University and an associate professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She earned a BS from Texas A&M University and a MCE and PhD from North Carolina State University. She is also a registered professional engineer in Texas and Arizona. Dr. Dixon is a member of the TRB Highway Safety Performance Committee and a member of the TRB Operational Effects of Geometrics Committee. She served as the chair of the technical research subcommittee for the development of the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual. Most recently, she was a co-author of the 2014 TRB Access Management Manual and the 2016 TRB Access Management Applications Guideline. Dr. Dixon’s talk will address how we evaluate access management and what new tools are available to enhance this evaluation.
