About: Dr. Thomas has worked in the field of traffic and transportation engineering for over twenty-five years. His specialties are in the areas of traffic control devices, traffic signal operations, intersection safety, temporary work zone control, and transportation planning. He has experience as a private consultant, city traffic engineer, university faculty, and, most recently, research engineer at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas, Florida, and Arizona; a fellow and former director of the Institute of Transportation Engineers; an associate member of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers; and a committee member of the Transportation Research Board; and is a certified instructor for the National Highway Institute of the Federal Highway Administration. He also served as president of the ITE student chapter at Arizona State University from 1990-1992.
