Student Paper Award
Submittals for the Daniel B. Fambro student paper award are due on March 1. Guidelines for the paper contest can be found on the ITE web site. Of those papers submitted to the Texas District, one may be chosen by the selection committee as the outstanding paper from the Texas District and forwarded on to ITE headquarters to vie for the Daniel B. Fambro award. In addition, should a paper be named the winner of the Texas District competition, the author will be awarded $1,000, regardless of the results of the international competition. At the selection committee’s discretion, lesser monetary awards may also be awarded to the authors of other papers submitted. Papers shall be submitted to the Texas District Award Coordinator.
Student Chapter Award
Annual chapter reports are due on March 1. Guidelines for the report can be found on the ITE web site. Of those annual reports submitted to the Texas District, one may be chosen by the selection committee as the outstanding student chapter from the Texas District and forwarded on to ITE headquarters to vie for the international outstanding student chapter award. In addition, should a chapter be named the winner of the Texas District competition, the student chapter will be awarded $1,000, regardless of the results of the international competition. At the selection committee’s discretion, lesser monetary awards may also be awarded to other student chapters. Reports shall be submitted to the Texas District Award Coordinator.
Jim Carvell Travel Fellowship
The Jim Carvell Travel Fellowship was established in 2007 to assist a student chapter member of the Texas District in attending the ITE Annual Meeting. The award is based on demonstrated financial need, participation in the technical program or a technical committee, and exhibited leadership and participation within the student chapter. A student must petition the district board of directors prior to June 1 if they wish to be considered for this fellowship. The petition should be in the form of a letter (2 pages maximum) that addresses the selection criteria. The letter shall be sent to the Texas District President on or before June 1. Texas District Fellowships
Up to two fellowships of $1000 each may be awarded annually to the two highest ranked candidates from the Texas District. Recipients must enter full-time graduate study in transportation within 12 months of the closing date of the applications. To review the criteria and to apply for the fellowship, download and complete the application and reference forms and return to the Texas District Award Coordinator by May 15.
