Description
We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter to join our team as a Sr. ITS Engineer in Texas (Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Houston or San Antonio)

Our teams are currently delivering exciting, important and industry-leading infrastructure projects, including roadways, toll facilities, transit, sustainable solutions, and transportation technology projects. The role of technology and the benefits it can unlock for our transportation clients continues to be an exciting growth area for BGE, Inc. and in response to this, we are developing new technical solutions to meet the challenges and opportunities provided by intelligent mobility.

Responsibilities:
Independently apply standard ITS, traffic and civil engineering principles and techniques for the Design, Deployment & Operation of ITS Technologies.
Prepare ITS design bid packages, including plans, specifications and engineer's estimates for successful letting and construction. Elements could include DMS, CTSS, tolling devices and traffic detectors as well as fiber optic/wireless communications to these devices.
Develop ITS implementation plans and perform ITS planning studies.
Perform quality assurance detail checking reviews of plans, specifications and estimates prior to submittal to ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards.
Review project submittals, including conceptual, preliminary, and final ITS plans. Confirm compliance with applicable design criteria and standards (Federal, TxDOT, County, Toll Agency or City-specific). Record review comments and confirm compliance to comments with responses and subsequent submittals.
Assist in performing post-design oversight such as shop drawing reviews and construction requests for information.
Perform Testing and Acceptance Specifications necessary for a completely verified ITS implementation.
Perform project functions of planning, organizing, directing, controlling, financial management, and marketing assistance.
Manage and lead project-specific team, tasks and resources to inspire teams to exceed client expectations.
Coordinate with internal project staff, subconsultants, and clients.
Provide positive and practical leadership, direction, technical guidance, and function as a mentor to technical professionals to assist in their training and development.
Identify ITS processes and latest technologies to develop system engineering, design, verification, and acceptance testing for innovative ITS and TSMO projects.
Write proposals, scopes of work, and prepare project budgets.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
Master’s Degree or graduate level technical coursework a plus.
8-15+ years of experience in ITS and Traffic Engineering.
Texas P.E. license is required.
A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification a plus.
Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.
Experience with MicroStation and Bluebeam preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.
Familiarity with traffic and ITS design manuals and standards such as the TMUTCD, NEC, TxDOT PS&E Manual required
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, organization and multi-tasking skills
Excellent technical, written and oral communication skills
Familiarity with industry practices and traffic engineering principles
Ability to lead and mentor staff
