Citizens Tower & City of Lubbock TMC Tour

What was once a defunct office tower surrounded by closed sidewalks due to falling debris has been transformed into a modern City Hall anchoring another area of Downtown redevelopment. The tour includes the City's Traffic Management Center where participants will see first-hand what inter-agency cooperation can achieve viewing the joint operation with TxDOT including over 100 PTZ cameras, 35 DMSs, and 230 signals connected to the City and TxDOT fiber optic and broadband wireless networks.

It is expected that participants of this will join the Buddy Holly Hall Tour immediatly following and in close proximity.

Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences Tour (no PDHs)

Explore the premier performing arts center of West Texas at the Buddy Holly Hall. The new 218,000-square-foot Hall anchors Lubbock’s arts and culture district, and holds a multitude of performances and programs in the grand 2,297-seat Helen DeVitt Jones Theater, the more intimate 415-person Crickets Theater, and other flexible spaces for rehearsal and performance. It also contains a restaurant, two multi-purpose rooms and an outdoor covered amphitheater.

Micromobilty Tour

Broadway, Downtown, and Depot District

Grab a scooter or bike and ride the historic brick streets from Texas Tech through Downtown to the Canyon Lake Bike Trail. Participants will see first-hand the Broadway road diet that enabled bike lanes to connect the Texas Tech campus to Downtown and the Canyon Lake Bike Trail. The tour ends in the Depot District where participants can grab lunch and visit local wine cellars and breweries.

Texas Tech National Wind Institute

NWI's roots were formed following the 1970 Lubbock Tornado. With the inclusion of engineers, atmospheric scientists, and economists, the multidisciplinary team continued to grow but remained focused on wind hazard-related research. An expansion into wind energy research began in the early 2000s.

Introduction to the Safe System Approach

An introduction to the Safe System approach and your role as a system steward in it.  The first module will cover safe system elements and principles, the role of human-error in system performance, and ways to reduce the chances of error and its consequences.  The second module will cover the role of speed in crash severity, the relationship to kinetic energy, speed management philosophies and physical and operational measures to reduce speeds.

Join our Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist team for an educational experience under blindfold to understand how individuals who are visually impaired travel. Learn about how Orientation & Mobility Specialists work together with traffic engineers to advocate for accessible design. Participants will receive guide techniques before heading outdoors to analyze complex intersections under blindfold.
